To get your certificate as soon as possible, plan to spend about 10 hours a week with video, audio and reading in addition to the weekly live session. If you need more time to absorb the material, you'll be welcome to take longer – just submit your final certification material anytime before the end of the year.
How are the 50 hours distributed?
For more than half of the training hours you'll be on your mat following guided yin yoga, yang flow and meditation routines (video and audio). The rest of the hours are a blend of video learning modules, pratcie teaching exercises, and reading sections of the Yin Teacher's Manual.
I'm not a yoga teacher. Can I still participate?
Yes, non-teachers are welcome to participate. You're not required to be a yoga teacher to take this course. About half of trainees in prior sessions of this course have been non-teachers. Some have gone on to teach yin, while others were primarily interested in deepening their own practice.
Is it okay if I can't attend the live sessions?
Yes, if you can't attend live, you can watch the recordings, which will be posted to the training portal within 4 hours after each session.
What's the cancellation policy?
If you cancel before 11:59pm PDT on Sept. 21, you'll receive a 100% refund. If you cancel between 11:59pm PDT on Sept. 21 and 11:59pm PDT on Sept. 27, you'll receive an 80% refund. There are no refunds after 11:59pm PDT on Sept. 27, 2021.
Does this training qualify for Yoga Alliance continuing ed?
Does this training qualify for Yoga Alliance continuing education? Yes, this is an authorized YACEP continuing education course. Students will earn Yoga Alliance CE's for 35 contact hours + 15 non-contact hours = 50 hours total, which fulfills your every-three-years CE requirement. We are in a special time with YA's COVID-19 online learning exemption, where online trainings like this can provide contact hours.
Will this certify me to teach yin yoga?
Since nobody owns yin yoga, no certificate is required to teach it. But for those who seek a solid structure within which to start guiding yin, this course provides the confidence and skills to do so. Upon completion you'll receive a certificate displaying that you're a 50-hour Certified Yin Yoga Teacher with Devi Daly.
What are the assignments? Will I have to find people to teach? What about Covid concerns?
The training assignments have options so that you won’t need to come into physical contact with anyone, if that’s what works best for you.
The first week’s assignment is done on your own. You’ll just use your phone to make an audio recording of yourself reading through the script (or improvising instead, if you’re comfortable doing so). You will then practice with the recording. You won’t need to submit the recording, you’ll just fill out a form summarizing what you learned from the experience.
The second assignment is a choice of assisted yin (done with another person) or yin with sandbags (done by yourself). Again, you don’t need to make a recording, you will just need to submit a form summarizing your experience.
The final assignment is to teach class to another person. This can either be done on zoom, or in person. You can teach a friend or another student in the class. A script is available for those who are new to teaching. For this assignment you will submit a video recording, which you can take with your phone, or submit a link to a zoom recording.
How big is the training group?
There's a maximum of 25 people, and the training typically fills up.
